With every season comes a new mountain to climb, a new 100-step ziggurat to ascend through weeks of challenges until you reach the very top, triumphant with rewards in hand. Season 8 means a new battle pass to be had in Fortnite, which means its time to retire the Ice King and Prisoner as the top skins the game has to offer and to inaugurate a new Tier-100 champion. Let’s take a look at the new Tier-100 skin for Season 8 in Fortnite: Battle Royale.:
And that’s right! We’ve got our very first female Tier-100 skin: it’s been a long time coming, but better late than never. Luxe is sort of pared-down compared to some of the more elaborate Tier-100 skins we’ve seen in the past, like the almost-absurd Ragnarok. But there’s something that works about this relatively-straightforward appearance: there’s a real speed to this look, even if it’s a little unclear at this moment how it works with the whole pirate theme.
As usual, Luxe comes in several different variations, but Epic seems to be using progressive skins for the Tier-1 skins more than the Tier-1o0 skins these days. Like the Ice King before her, Luxe’s different styles are mostly palette swaps:
I’ll be very curious to see how she plays into the season-long narrative: usually, the Tier-100 skin has some sort of role to play, and the Ice King proved to be one of the pivotal characters in Season 7. Luxe isn’t present in any of these early cinematics, but we know that things have a way of changing and changing quickly in the world of Fortnite. She certainly looks triumphant sitting on top of that treasure chest with those pistols.
