Here’s a truly sad statistic about the Patriots’ passing offense

Even when the New England Patriots made a good play in Week 9, it produced a statistic that reminded everyone how bad their defense has been. It’s a sign of how rough of a season it has been for the Patriots.

Quarterback Cam Newton threw a 25-yard pass to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. For Newton, that was his longest throw in a game in terms of air yards since Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. Later in the drive, the Patriots scored a rushing touchdown. The touchdown was the first time they have scored in the first quarter all season.

If anything, this represents progress for New England, as they look to get back into the win column against the New York Jets.

It will be interesting to see if they can sustain this type of offense of momentum, as capitalizing on momentum is not something they have been able to accomplish all season.
