Which mammal can poop 200 litres of poo in one bowel movement?

Can you match the animal to the little brown message it's left behind?

You can call it scat, faeces, or just plain poo.

Regardless of the name you give it, everyone goes out of their way to avoid digested animal waste, except for the most dedicated scientists, animal lovers and vets.

But if you're interested in finding out more about the animal world, identifying scats can tell you a lot about a creature, including what they eat, where they go and even how they live.

As part of ABC Science's How to Summer series, we want to know if you can tell your possum poo from your fox faeces.

Take our scat quiz to find out!

See what else eastern grey kangaroos get up to in this How Deadly video with the ABC's resident nature nerd Ann Jones.

This quiz is based on a story written by Heather Catchpole, and updated in 2019.
