Here’s a look at the Patriots’ preseason schedule

The New England Patriots announced their schedule for the 2019 preseason. Here’s a look at their games.

  • Week 1: at Detroit Lions
  • Week 2: at Tennessee Titans
  • Week 3: vs. Carolina Panthers
  • Week 4: vs. New York Giants

A few thoughts: 1) These matchups include games against two head coaches who are former Patriots: Detriot’s Matt Patricia and Tennessee’s Mike Vrabel. That might help create an opportunity for joint practices between the Patriots and those two opponents. 2) The Week 3 matchup, considered the most important in preseason, would be a disappointing litmus test for New England if quarterback Cam Newton isn’t healthy enough to play. He is dealing with another shoulder surgery. 3) The Week 4 matchup against the Giants will provide the usual Super Bowl matchup. Eli Manning and Tom Brady probably won’t play. Will the game feature a rookie quarterback from either team?
