Here Is Fortnite's First Season 6 Teaser At Last, Revealing The Cube And A New Skin

Fortnite

Fortnite Season 6 has been delayed a week and pretty much nothing has been said about it by Epic…until now. They have finally decided to roll out the first teaser image for season 6, which was not leaked ahead of time, surprisingly, as they were keeping it close to the vest.

Players will recognize a familiar shape in the teaser, the Cube, which serves as the background. The Cube recently melted into Loot Lake, making the entire thing bouncy and purple, but I suppose it’s possible it either A) re-forms itself or B) other Cubes arrive to do new things on the map.

The centerpiece of the teaser image is what appears to be a new skin from the upcoming season. I wouldn’t normally know what it was other than a guy in a llama helmet, but according to Epic’s tweet…

“All great parties need a DJ.”

…it seems like this is the game’s take on a llama-themed Daft Punk or Marshmello-type DJ where their identity is kept under wraps as they perform.

Season 4’s teasers showed skins that ended up being part of the battle pass, so it seems likely that DJ Llama here is as well. He certainly doesn’t look like a Tier 1 or 100 skin, if I had to guess, but who knows. I wonder if you can swap in and out different heads on this thing, which has been a recently popular trend in Fortnite, the ability to customize skins, specifically heads for things like the Getaway skins or the new clown skins.

As for the theme here? The only clues we’re getting here are “Cube” and “party” so maybe the Visitor/Cubes don’t want to destroy the map, but instead invade it for a massive intergalactic party. Sounds ridiculous, but Epic’s philosophy has generally been the more ridiculous the better. The Cube drama of the last few weeks has given us exactly no clues about the possible season 6 theme, with everyone assuming the Cube was going to destroy and reform an area of the map. One theory is that it could teleport in a city from the future or something, rather than destroy anything specific, and maybe there will be a new Cube-based party zone when the new map shows up this week.

I don’t know exactly what else a “party theme” might entail, but Epic has been a bit loose with themes this past season, which was some combination of “time travel” and “summer fun” which don’t really go together. Here we might have “party” and “Cube invasion,” so who knows what the end result is going to be for that.

We are likely to see another image released tomorrow at 10 AM ET, given when this one went up. Stay tuned for a new skin reveal, and perhaps more clues about where season 6 will take us.

Unlike season 4’s teasers, this does not look like an image that’s going to get filled in over time. Rather, my guess is that we’ll see two more of these before season 6’s launch on Thursday, each with a new character.
