Here are the Rockets’ seeding scenarios for the playoffs

The Houston Rockets lost Tuesday night in their regular-season finale. Because of that, and two other games, their seeding for the Western Conference is a little jumbled.

Here are the games being played tonight (Wednesday, April 10) that matter for seeding:

MIN @ DEN & SAC @ POR

  • If Denver and Portland win, No. 2 = DEN, No. 3 = POR and No. 4 = HOU
  • If Denver and Sacramento win, No. 2 = DEN, No. 3 = HOU and No. 4 = POR
  • If Minnesota and Portland win, No. 2 = HOU, No. 3 = DEN and No. 4 = POR
  • If Minnesota and Sacramento win, No. 2 = HOU, No. 3 = DEN and No. 4 = POR

Houston owns the tiebreak over Denver but not over Portland, hence, all the confusion and different scenarios.

At 53-29, the Rockets currently sit in the No. 3 seed and would match up with the Thunder at No. 6.

Finishing in the two or three seed would benefit Houston because they ideally could avoid the Golden State Warriors until the Western Conference Finals.
