Rocket League has seen some big changes this summer, including an overhaul of the level progression system, the addition of clubs, and of course the release of the first Rocket Pass. With all the excitement of the Rocket Pass, it’s easy to have forgotten about Rocket League’s season rewards.
Psyonix has reminded us all by releasing images of the Season 8 Competitive rewards and more details about the upcoming Season 9. These new boosts are exclusive to the season rewards, and those ranked Grand Champion will also receive a “Season 8 Grand Champion” player title.

Many players were concerned that the Season 8 Rewards would be Avatar Borders, a new cosmetic slot added with the Progression Update that adds a decorative border to players’ icons, but Psyonix seems to have responded to the so-so feedback from players.
Psyonix didn’t give us an official release date for Season 9, but a Psyonix employee hinted at October 1st on Reddit.
Along with this sneak preview of Season 8′s rewards come some additional information about Season 9- mainly about ranked Hoops, Dropshot, Snow Day, and Rumble modes. Each of these “Extra Modes” will have their own ranked playlist, and you’ll have a separate rank and MMR in each.
While the absurdity of ranked Rumble sounds hilarious, Psyonix hopes ranked playlists will bring higher player counts and more even matches in these alternative game modes. Wins in Extra Modes will count towards your Season 9 competitive rewards, but Psyonix hinted at “Extra Mode-specific Grand Champion titles” to distinguish top-level Hoops players from the most skilled Soccar players.
Maybe it’s just me, but I am definitely going to try my hand at hitting Grand Champ in at least one extra mode, if only for a “Season 9 Rumble Grand Champ” title.
