Glasgow white Christmas odds show city among bookie's favourites for festive snowfall

Betting has already begun on whether Glasgow will have a white Christmas and the odds are looking good.

While there's no way of knowing for sure until the edges closer and we get a glimpse at the weather forecasts, we're still staying optimistic.

Glasgow is one of the favourites to get snowfall this December as the country faces having the coldest winter the UK has ever seen.

Coral have trimmed the odds on the likelihood of a white-out this festive season.

Odds for snow falling on the city this Christmas currently stands at 3-1.  Not bad if you ask us.

The definition the Met Office uses to define a white Christmas is for one snowflake to be observed falling in the 24 hours of December 25 somewhere in the UK - so the bar isn't set too high.

Coral have said: "As we head through November temperatures are going to sink lower and lower and we now make this winter odds on to be the coldest the UK has ever had."

Forecasters won't be able to say for sure whether we'll be heading for a Bing Crosby style White Christmas until up to five days before the big day.

But, we'll be keeping our fingers cross since, at this rate, snowfall might be the only staple of a traditional Christmas we'll have this year.
