Here are the Edinburgh tourist attractions open from today as lockdown eases

Today sees multiple tourist attractions re-opening for business across Edinburgh as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

Earlier this month,  First Minister Nicola Sturgeon  moved the country into phase two of the  lockdown route map, which allowed some aspects of normal life to begin again.

Since March, tourist attractions and all other non essential businesses have been closed.

However, from today (Monday June 29) some tourist attractions like Edinburgh Zoo and the Royal Botanic Gardens are re-opening.

The attractions that are opening for tourists are all primarily outdoors for the time being with significant changes to how you book and who is allowed in.

Edinburgh Zoo

Edinburgh's iconic zoo is welcoming visitors once again from today.

With new safety measures in place the zoo says your visit will feel a little different to normal - limited numbers means everyone will have to pre-book and observe social distancing once inside.

Gorgie Farm

The beloved city farm is open from 9.30am today.

There is currently no parking allowed on site or on the lane leading up to the farm and limited numbers mean you might have to wait to be allowed in.

The cafe will be operating a takeaway service with lots of outdoor seating and a picnic area for distanced eating.

See their facebook page for full details.

The Royal Botanic Gardens

The botanics will reopen on Wednesday 1 July with new health and safety measures in place.

If you are planning to visit the Edinburgh Garden, you must book a time slot online in advance.

Book a time slot today for visits up to 15 July on their website.

Five Sisters Zoo

You will only be able to visit the zoo if you have  pre-purchased tickets online.

Timeslots have been put in place to minimise queues on entry. Please make sure you arrive to the zoo on your chosen timeslot or you may be refused entry.

The zoo is open until 6pm.

Fort Douglas Adventure Park

Fort Douglas will re-open from Tuesday, 30th June.

There are two sessions available to book online and you can visit any time within each session:

AM Session: 10am – 1pm

PM Session: 2pm – 5pm

Conifox Adventure Park

The adventure park near Edinburgh Airport will re-open to members on Friday 3 July and open to the public from Wednesday 8 July 2020.

The Bistro will remain closed until further notice but BBQ and snack bars are open for you to purchase food and drink during your visit.
