Here are the 10 things Scousers asked Google most in 2019

If you've ever wondered what your friends and family search for most on Google, we have all the answers.

This year brought us a general election, Extinction Rebellion strikes and of course more Brexit drama.

But none of Liverpool's top trending queries featured those three topics.

The ECHO contacted Google's Trends team to find out the 10 most searched queries in Liverpool in 2019 - and you may be surprised.

1. Man City

You may be wondering why Liverpool FC's rivals Manchester City topped the list.

But the experts at Google explained that Man City tops the list of overall trending searches by Liverpudlians, following Liverpool 3-1 triumph over City last month.

2. Rugby World Cup

In second place was the Rugby World Cup following England’s success reaching the final in impressive style and Typhoon Hagibis causing unwanted chaos across Japan.

Whilst it didn't quite beat Manchester City in terms of its search audience in Liverpool, it did in the UK .

3. Television dramas

Sky Atlantic, Chernobyl series. Smoke from nuclear power plant Episode 01 Unit Stills (Sky UK Ltd/HBO)

It was also a huge year for television dramas, including the controversial final series of Game of Thrones, which saw eight years of the drama series come to a close with an honourable third place in the top trending list.

This was followed by HBO’s highly acclaimed historical drama television series, Chernobyl, coming in fourth.

5. Anthony Joshua

British boxer Anthony Joshua took revenge on Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia and won back his heavyweight world titles.

Six months ago the Brit's fight came to a shocking end , but this time he boxed with far more control.

In the opening stages in Saudi Arabia, both men had to overcome cuts around their left eye.

But it was Joshua who produced the more disciplined performance in the desert as he established a comfortable lead by the halfway point.
