Here are Kevin Hogan’s contract details with Broncos

The Denver Broncos re-signed backup quarterback Kevin Hogan to a one-year contract last week. Thanks to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis, we now know the details of that deal.

Hogan received a $300,000 signing bonus and he will have a base salary of $900,000, according to Klis. He can earn an additional $90,000 through a roster bonus. That means his salary cap hit for 2019 will be $1.29 million.

After re-signing Hogan, the team has $12,492,067 in remaining salary cap space.

Klis also reported that the Minnesota Vikings had interest in Hogan but the QB wanted to remain in Denver. Minnesota was searching for a new backup after losing Trevor Siemian to the New York Jets.

If the Broncos cut Hogan, it would result in a $300,000 “dead money” salary cap hit. Because his signing bonus was paid up front, that money will count against the cap regardless of whether or not Hogan is on the roster.

Hogan, 26, has earned $1,749,856 in his career, according to Spotrac.com. If he makes Denver’s roster, his career earnings could jump to $3,039,856. Not bad for a guy who has started just one game.
