Here are Ja’Wuan James’ contract details with Broncos

The Denver Broncos plan to sign offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James to a four-year deal but the contract will not become official until the new league year begins Wednesday. The deal will be worth $51 million and will include $32 million guaranteed, according to SportsTrust Advisors.

That means James will earn an average of $12.75 million per year, making him the highest-paid right tackle in the NFL. With the league’s salary cap continuing to rise, though, James may not remain the highest-paid RT for long.

It’s hard to calculate how much salary cap space the Broncos have left after agreeing to terms with James and defensive back Kareem Jackson because we do not yet know how much each player will earn in 2019.

But if we take the average salary for each player and apply it to this season ($12.75 million for James and $11 million for Jackson), we can subtract $23.75 million from $41,535,704 and guestimate that the team has roughly $17,785,704 in remaining salary cap space.

Again, that’s just a rough estimation — we won’t know for sure how much cap space the team has remaining until we learn how much James and Jackson will count against the team’s salary cap in 2019.
