As Fortnite: Battle Royale’s fifth season draws to a close, we have one last batch of leaked skins and cosmetics to share with you.
Once again there’s a mishmash of different themes at play here. One historical skin, some pop-culture skins and, even better, some medic-themed skins for the combat medics among us.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Outfits/Skins
I swear, Epic Games just keeps getting better and better at creating memorable, unique cosmetics. Nowhere does this shine brighter than with Fortnite’s amazing Outfits (skins). Let’s take a look at what dataminers have found in the v5.40 patch.
Wild Card (Legendary) “Pick a card, any card.”
Leading the pack this week is the much-ballyhooed Wild Card skin. It’s awesome. Wild Card can be stylized to have any of the four poker suits on his face: Spades, Hearts, Diamonds or Clubs. He’s also the poster child for the High Stakes event which begins today.
Synth Star (Epic) “Ride a new wave to victory.”
Wave of sonic, synth-drenched sound that is. I love that this batch of skins has 80s themed pop/rock skins.
Stage Slayer (Epic) “Crank it up!”
Guns ‘n’ Roses eat your heart out. This is one of those skins I might just have to buy.
Unknown
As of right now this Outfit does not have a name or rarity. I’ll update when this is discovered.
Hacivat (Epic) “From lore to legend.”
This is a terrific looking skin (with matching Back Bling below) based on the Turkish shadow play about Karagöz and Hacivat. It’s also a traditional play in Greece. I’m not really sure what his inclusion means for Fortnite.
Field Surgeon (Epic) “Scalpel!”
Finally, medic-themed skins have been added to the game. Players who enjoy healing others on the battlefield (like this amazing video) can now dress the part!
Triage Trooper (Rare) “No one is beyond saving.”
Garrison (Uncommon) “Hold down the fort.”
He may be the most common of these skins but I still really like Garrison. He looks like he came straight out of a Street Fighter game.
Gliders
Some very cool new Gliders have leaked with the latest patch. It’s not hard to tell which Glider goes with which Outfit, and I love that we’re getting these medic-themed cosmetics.
Safecracker (Rare) “Breaking in was the easy part…”
This is Wild Card’s Glider and another part of the limited time High Stakes event. It’s the only Glider I know of that’s filled to the brim with loot.
Airlift (Epic) “Glide to the rescue.”
The perfect Glider for our Triage Troopers and Field Surgeons.
Hot Ride (Legendary) “Burn down the road.”
Another very rare Legendary Glider, we just don’t see these all that often. It’s pretty slick, too, even if I’m not sure that it fits anything thematically.
Shadow Puppet (Epic) “Play in the light.”
You can see some of past season’s Outfits on the sails of this ship. I still prefer the viking longboat Glider but this is still neat.
Back Bling
Several new Back Blings have shown up in the v5.40 files, including more medic-themed items.
Gurney Gear (Epic) “Wheels up.”
Care Package (Epic) “Surgically precise.”
Keytar (Epic) “The key to harmony.”
Of the new musical cosmetics, this might be my favorite. It seems pretty obvious this one goes with Synth Star.
Kick Drum (Epic) “Drive the beat.”
Crafted Carrier (Epic) “Brilliantly bespoke.”
I dig this Back Bling. I’d wear this in real life. It has a sled on it. It’s definitely Hacivat’s, also. Classy dude.
Cuff Case (Legendary) “Always by your side.”
The heist Back Bling, this is Wild Card’s and perfect for the new Getaway LTM.
Pickaxes
Finally, we have pickaxes / harvesting tools, and there’s some pretty great ones in here as well. I mean, who doesn’t want to chop down trees with a microphone?
Lead Swinger (Uncommon) “Hit the high notes.”
Honestly I can’t believe this one is Uncommon. I thought for sure it would be at least Rare. Oh well, fewer V-Bucks is always a good thing.
Crowbar (Rare) “Pry away.”
I’m honestly surprised there hasn’t been a crowbar in the game until now. This is Wild Card’s matching heist-themed pickaxe.
Flatliner (Rare) “Not on my watch!”
Actually I think this is the most frightening pickaxe in the game so far. *shudders**
Tree Splitter (Uncommon) “Make like a tree and split.”
This is the most sensible pickaxe so far. An actual tree splitter! Go forth and harvest.
