Here Are All The Free PlayStation Plus Games For August (2018)

Mafia III headlines the free PS Plus games of August.

Sony just announced its lineup of free PlayStation Plus games for August and there’s some really good games in the list.

New free games are landing on PS4, PS3, PS Vita and PSVR this month, and should be live next week.

You can see which games are free for the month of July here.

Now, some of these games are a bit controversial or at least not widely loved, but the headliner—Mafia III—was a game I really enjoyed in spite of some repetitive gameplay. It’s set in such a rich rendition of the South during the Civil Rights movement with such a great soundtrack that I just thoroughly enjoyed it in large part thanks to the worldbuilding. It’s also a great setting for a story about organized crime and bloody revenge.

For free, well, what have you got to lose?

Dead by Daylight

The other big PS4 release this month is Dead by Daylight, the 4 vs 1 horror/survival/action game where four players team up to beat a fifth player who plays as a super-powered serial killer. Again, it’s received pretty mixed reviews from both gamers and the press, but it’s also a pretty popular streaming title and can be a lot of fun. And it’s free, so . . . .

On PS3 we have Bound by Flame and Serious Same 3 BFE. I played the former in its entirety and it’s a decent action-RPG. Nothing I’d actually spend money on, mind you, but again it’s free. It’s one of those AA Euro-RPGs that’s just a little bit janky and cheesy but still has its redeeming qualities.

In any case, here are all the games coming to PS Plus in August:

PlayStation 4

PlayStation 3

  • Bound By Flame
  • Serious Same 3 BFE

PS Vita

  • Drew Slasher
  • Space Hulk

PS VR

  • Here They Lie (Aug 7th – Oct 2nd)

Bonus

  • Knowledge is Power (Aug 7th – Nov 6th)
Bound by Flame

You can see the games still available for free on PS+ from July here.
