Herd of deer spotted taking late-night stroll in Drumchapel

Lockdown has treated us to some magical wildlife moments captured on camera happening in and around Glasgow.

We've seen seals munching fish in the River Clyde, elusive otters appearing in the Kelvin, colourful parakeets trading the tropical climes of Asia for Maryhill Park and hundreds of geese 'blocking out the sky' near Possil like something out a Hitchcock film.

And we can add to that the surprise felt by one Glaswegian after he spotted a herd of deer having a late-night stroll in Drumchapel.

The deer were seen around 3am this morning by John Aire while he was driving to work on Chesters Road, having no doubt ventured onto the residential street - as foxes do - at that hour from nearby woodland in search of some late-night nibbles.

A trip onto the street that sadly might have been motivated by the significant snowfall that has covered the city in recent days.

It's not the first time deer have been spotted out and about in the city - with an adorable deer snapped by a shocked city centre worker venturing up Buchanan Street near to Buchanan Galleries amid the first lockdown back in May last year.
