Herd of cows escape farm and loiter outside Toby Carvery in Leeds

There were some four-legged guests at a Toby Carvery last night when a herd of around 10 cows escaped a field in south Leeds.

Chloe Crosby, 18, spotted the cows stood on the pavement outside the carvery on Aberford Road, Oulton, late on Monday, March 9.

She told LeedsLive: "It was about 10.30pm and there were just about 10 cows stood at the side of the road.

"They must have been there for quite a while, because I rung the police and they said someone had reported it to them at about 10pm.

"It was definitely something I had to look twice at!

"I was talking to my boyfriend about it and I just said: 'I can't believe it!'"

After reporting the incident to West Yorkshire Police, Chloe posted the picture on Facebook to make everyone in the area aware - and people were quick to make jokes about why the cows were stood outside a carvery.

One person said: "Probably on a protest. They don't want to be eaten!"

Another said: "Looks like they know their green cross code!"

While someone else commented: "Off to get leathered, I herd."

Chloe's post in Facebook community group LS26 picked up a lot of traction and she said: "There were a lot of vegan posts when I put it on Facebook!

"It's just bit ironic that they were all stood outside the carvery."
