‘Her response was we voted for this’: MAGA mom denied food stamps pleads with mother-in-law for can of baby formula, she tells them FAFO

The federal government shutdown is now in its fourth week and shows no signs of being resolved anytime soon. Republicans (who control all three branches of government) are insisting this is all the Democrats’ fault, and the Dems are tossing that accusation right back over the political divide.

Polls indicate voters are, understandably, blaming the party that’s y’know, actually in power for this. Now, with November looming, households in red states are facing hunger and misery. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (aka food stamps) is now on the brink of collapse, with parents anxiously wondering how on Earth they’re supposed to feed their children.

For a peek at what this actually means, one Trump-voting mom in a parenting group has posted her terror over what’s coming.

She explains she’s “anxious”, saying she’s disabled with a two-year-old and a six-month-old. With the shutdown, “I don’t know how we’re going to pay rent, let alone our other bills, and get food.” The capper is her revealing she’d pleaded with her mother-in-law to buy them a can of baby formula: “her response was we voted for this”. Oof.

You’ve made your bed, sleep in it

That’s pretty cold-hearted behavior from the in-laws, particularly if they’re financially secure. However, we can only assume that if this grandma is going to these lengths to prove a point, the mom must have been seriously insufferable about Trump and MAGA over the past year.

It’s a strange paradox that those in red states rely far more on government handouts than those in blue states. Then, happily shooting themselves in the foot, they vote in droves for politicians whose platform rests on cutting the very benefits they rely on to feed and shelter themselves.

In a just world, these voters and their children going hungry while Trump demolishes the White House to build a gaudy $230 million golden ballroom should push them to have a change of heart. Maybe, just maybe, the billionaire sitting in fabulous opulence in the White House doesn’t have my best interests in mind…

But what’ll actually happen is that they’ll be told to blame immigrants for their woes and return to the polling station to vote for some tubby, bald, sex criminal Republican whose entire platform consists of “I promise to make your life worse in every conceivable way.”
