‘Her GPS just quit’: DoorDash driver gets lost on way to customer’s house. Then an angry customer gets her address, shows up to the driver’s house at 2am

DoorDash drivers reacted to an unhinged customer who showed up at another driver’s house after her food wasn’t delivered. Many called out the company to take driver safety more seriously.

According to a report by TMJ4 News, Milwaukee DoorDash driver Faith Morris attempted to deliver a 10-piece chicken wing to a customer’s home. However, on her way there, her GPS stopped working. Morris decided to turn around and head home to contact DoorDash about the issue.

The customer then used Morris’s in-app location to follow her home. She then smashed her car windshield and mirrors with a brick.

“I can no longer work right now. I can’t make deliveries,” Morris told reporters.

What did DoorDash say?

In an email to The Mary Sue, a DoorDash spokesperson wrote, “This customer’s actions are completely uncalled for, unacceptable, and disturbing. We have permanently banned them from our platform and are in touch with the Dasher directly to offer our support.”

Morris started a GoFundMe to help cover the damages and to relocate after the incident. This is since she decided to break her lease. In the description, she clarifies that her GPS dropped because her phone service disconnected. Allegedly, she had to go home to connect to wifi.

She said the customer called her and demanded she return her food.

“I told her that if I leave my house, I won’t have any service because I’m connected to the Wi-Fi,” Morris wrote on the GoFundMe page. “I then told her that I would pray for her, that God will give her understanding about the situation, because I know that she’s mad and probably hungry.”

She continued, “I told her to contact DoorDash and have a blessed night.”

The driver claimed that DoorDash won’t cover the damages until she pays for them and sends a receipt for reimbursement.

“The way that DoorDash lowballs you, how could they ever think that I will be able to pay all the damages on my car?” she continued in the description.

The Mary Sue reached out to Morris through her GoFundMe page.

What do other DoorDashers think of the incident?

TikToker and DoorDash driver Deamen Henderson (@deamen.henderson) recapped the viral incident for those who didn’t tune into the news. His clip earned over 178,000 views as of Tuesday.

While Morris later clarified that she lost signal due to her phone service disconnecting, Henderson said he has experienced difficulties with the DoorDash app while delivering to areas with poor signal.

“I don’t know what’s going to go on with DoorDash after this, but it’s going to be bad,” he said.

In his video, Henderson incorrectly claimed that a DoorDash customer service worker directly gave the customer Morris’s address. While many commenters pointed out this inaccuracy, it sparked a discussion on the consequences of DoorDash customers’ ability to see the driver’s location in-app.

“Customer should not have that kind of information about their drivers,” one wrote.

“They didn’t give her the address. Until the order was canceled, the customer could see the driver’s location and took it from there,” another said.

“Your GPS don’t cut off no matter if you have service or not,” a third suggested.

Some shared their frustrations with DoorDash’s in-app map following Henderson’s own experience with the GPS cutting off.

“I had a gun pulled on me because the GPS put the pin at the wrong house, I’ve been cussed out called a theif and every name in the book all for under minimum wage,” a commenter claimed.

“I hate when the GPS did that when I door dashed,” another said.

“I’ve had the app go down in mid delivery, somehow find the house, and since I can’t tell the app I delivered it, I didn’t get paid for driving 20 miles out of the way one way,” a third shared.

The Mary Sue reached out to Henderson for further comment.
