Her Game Too issue statement following Bristol Rovers' signing of Jevani Brown

Her Game Too will review their partnership with Bristol Rovers following the signing of Jevani Brown on a free transfer after his release by Exeter City.

Brown has signed a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months but is due to stand trial on July 7 after pleading not guilty to assaulting a woman. The 28-year-old has admitted one count of assault regarding a different woman.

Her Game Too was founded in May 2021, with Rovers fans Caz May and Lucy Ford among their founding members, as a campaign to “tackle sexism and champion women in sport”. Two months after their launch, the Gas became the first league club to partner with the organisation.

HGT branding is displayed throughout the Mem on a matchday, players have warmed up in t-shirts supporting the campaign, they have previously sponsored the Gas Girls women’s team for the 2021/22 season and maintain close links with the Community Trust to promote greater visibility and participation for women in sport.

Like other affiliated clubs across the EFL, Rovers also hold a designated Her Game Too-branded fixture to spread awareness of the campaign.

A statement released on social media just eight minutes after Rovers confirmed the signing of Brown on Monday afternoon, read: “Her Game Too are aware of the signing of Jevani Brown by Bristol Rovers and the initial reaction to this news. As this is a live legal case we are unable to comment on the matter.

“However, we can confirm that in due course, once the case has concluded, we will make a decision on what this means for our partnership with Bristol Rovers FC.

“We will remain in dialogue with the club throughout the process and provide further comment if required in due course. We will also continue to support the great work that goes on with Bristol Rovers Community Trust and Gas Girls.”
