Henry Shefflin makes quality additions to his Galway coaching set-up in Joyce and Lally

Henry Shefflin has added a member of Galway's last All-Ireland winning backroom team to his own coaching set-up - as well as an All-Ireland winning minor manager.

Damien Joyce, who captained the county before he had a coaching role in the Tribesmen's 2017 All-Ireland SHC title triumph, has been brought on board by new boss Shefflin.

The Kilkenny legend had already confirmed that former Cats star Richie O'Neill would be working alongside him following his surprise appointment.

And Shefflin has also added another well-regarded Galwegian to his coaching team, with Kevin Lally included. Lally guided the Galway minors to All-Ireland success last year, while they reached the final this summer.

He also managed St Thomas' to three county championship titles between 2018 and 2020.

Galway's new under-20 manager will be Brian Hanley, who has been recommended to take over on a three-year term, subject to ratification.

Hanley coached the county's minors to two All-Ireland title wins.

“Galway GAA wish Brian, Damien and Kevin the very best in their new roles,” read a statement.
