Henry Shefflin and wife Deirdre step out with kids for star-studded event in Dublin

Former Kilkenny hurling star Henry Shefflin and wife Deirdre were all smiles at the opening night of the Helix panto this week.

Alongside three of their five children, the pair looked delighted as they attended the star studded event.

The couple and their kids Henry, Sadhbh and Suin made the trip to Dublin to see The Three Musketeers by TheatreworX Productions, RSVP Live reports.

Glamorous Deidre stunned in a black ensemble and Henry Snr wore a smart grey jumper as they were snapped by photographers on the red carpet.

The pair had come straight from the Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship final in O'Moore Park in Portaloise, in which Ballyhale Shamrocks beat St Mullins 1-21 to 0-15.

Deirdre, who is also mum to Freddie and Tom, recently opened up to RSVP Magazine about why she decided to leave Bank of Ireland to become a stay-at-home mother.

"Leaving work was never something that was in my sights, to be honest," shesaid.

"I was lucky at the time to be in a job that I loved and I was hoping to be in that job for a long, long time.

"I had very flexible hours, I had a great boss, I had a great working environment and I think when Sadhbh came along things were working out lovely."

Deirdre and Henry then welcomed Henry Junior, Siun, and Freddie - and Deirdre admitted she started to feel a tug on her heartstrings.

"Then Tom was on the horizon and that's when I really looked at staying at home," she went on.

"It's not something that you just wake up one morning and say, 'I'm giving up work.'

"It was something that happened over time. I had to think about it a lot. I was very lucky in a sense in that no matter what I was going to decide on I had great support at home from my husband, henry."

The Shefflins were just some of the famous faces spotted at last night's performance - Lucy Kennedy, Anna Daly and Mairead Ronan were also in attendance with their families.

The Three Musketeers runs until January 19, 2020 with tickets priced from €17.50 (booking fees apply) and are on sale now from www.thehelix.ie and at The Helix Box Office.
