Henry Mauriss again linked with Newcastle interest after Companies House move

American entrepreneur Henry Mauriss has been linked again with a move for Newcastle United.

It remains to be seen if the Clear TV media tycoon tables a serious offer for the Magpies but sources close to United are refusing to dismiss the prospect of an approach.

As it stands, the proposal for United from Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund remains at the latter stages of the Premier League’s Owner’s and Director’s test.

The Premier League have have refused to comment on the bid from Staveley and the Middle East consortium, but there has been no denial about the fact they have reached the closing stages of the deal.

Mauriss is said to be waiting in the wings in the event of the deal does not get approved, and formed a UK company with Companies House in May.

Whether this will pave the way for a possible future bid remains to be seen.
