Henry de Bromhead the most-backed trainer for the Cheltenham Festival in past week

Henry de Bromhead has been the most-backed trainer for the Cheltenham Festival in the past week.

Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott remain first and second in the betting for the Top Trainer market, but Oddschecker have revealed that Co Waterford's de Bromhead has received the most bets in the past seven days.

Over that time, he has accumulated 46% of all bets, resulting in all bookmakers offering the market, cutting odds. William Hill cut his odds from 14/1 into 10/1.

Either Mullins or Elliott have been crowned Top Trainer every year at the Festival since 2013.

Nicky Henderson was the last trainer out of them to win the crown in 2012.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson said: “It will be a tough ask to knock both Mullins and Elliott of their perch, but Henry de Bromhead will arrive at Cheltenham with an array of supremely talented horses.

“Stars such Honeysuckle, Minella Indo and Notebook, who are all leading fancies in their respective races have meant that punters quietly fancy the Irishman to challenge for the top trainer accolade.”

Cheltenham Festival Top Trainer:

Gordon Elliott - 7/4

Willie Mullins - 7/4

Nicky Henderson - 9/2

Henry de Bromhead - 10/1

Colin Tizzard - 33/1

Paul Nicholls - 33/1
