Everyone’s favourite celebrity boyfriend Henry Cavill has hit back at his critics in a lengthy and admirably vague Instagram post. Who those critics are, we may never know, as I’m finding it impossible to fault the man on one single thing – but they must exist, otherwise he wouldn’t have felt the need to post, right?
The Insta update shows a picture of 38-year-old Cavill and his new girlfriend, 31-year-old Hollywood executive Natalie Viscuso, wearing matching nerd hats and looking cute. The pair only went public last month, but it seems there’s been enough uproar about his coupledom to warrant a response. In the caption, the British actor wrote that he “wanted to make a wee community announcement”.
There has been lots of, let’s call it speculation for now, about my private life and professional partnerships. Now, while I do appreciate the passion and support by those very people who are ‘speculating,’ It has come to such a point that I needed to say something, which in itself, is a bad thing.
We are living in an age of social enlightenment. More and more, people are realising that their views may have been blinkered and that they need to expand them to encompass others. So, to you out there who are expressing your disdain and showing your displeasure through a surprising variety of ways, it’s time to stop.

If it’s just people being salty because he’s dating the very sweet-seeming Viscuso and not them then I sort of understand, but also… haven’t we as a society progressed past the need to publicly berate celebrities for living their lives? Anyway the whole thing is a delight to read if only for its high-level Vaguebooking aura (and its very sensible lack of a comments section). I wish the Witcher and his gentle corporate girlfriend all the very best. Long may their hats match in unmolested peace.
