Henry Boot issues upbeat report amid 'growing signs of recovery'

Construction and property group Henry Boot has reported a ‘positive’ start to the year and said it is on track to meet expectations.

The Sheffield group - which has divisions in housebuilding, construction and land management - said the latest national lockdown had had a ‘minimal’ effect on its activities.

The company said it continued to invest in long-term markets, securing 582 acres of land that includes a site in Birmingham city centre for residental development, plus industrial estates in Manchester and Skelmersdale.

It said its Hallam Land Management business had seen a solid start to the year, selling more than 2,000 plots, while development arm HBD had seen strong demand in the industrial and logistics and urban residential sectors.

The company said its investment portfolio had risen to £91.8m and a resilient housing market had boosted both its Stonebridge Homes division and Henry Boot Construction.

In a statement released ahead of its AGM, the company said: “Henry Boot has been encouraged by current performance levels and the growing signs of recovery.

“The group will therefore continue to use its strong financial position to increase investments in its three key markets: industrial & logistics, residential and urban development.

“This leaves Henry Boot confident that the business is very much on track to deliver its 2021 targets as well as taking early steps towards the medium-term targets recently set out in the preliminary statement.”
