Henrik Larsson to lead Barcelona as condemned Ronald Koeman banished for Atletico showdown

Celtic icon Henrik Larsson will be tasked with galvanising Barcelona from the touchline against La Liga champions Atletico Madrid while under-fire Ronald Koeman watches from the stands.

The Dutchman is serving the second of his two-match domestic suspension but his presence on the touchline didn't bring much luck during the midweek 3-0 trouncing at the hands of Benfica.

And now Larsson and trusted lieutenant Alfred Schreuder - who arrived last summer - will go up against Diego Simeone inside the Wanda Metropolitano.

Atleti will be looking to heap the pressure on their presumed title rivals who remain undefeated domestically despite the pressure mounting on Koeman.

A host of names have been linked with Barcelona with the likes of Ajax's Erik Ten Hag, Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers all understood to be under consideration.

Barcelona don't have their problems to seek in their first season without Lionel Messi and the defeat in the Stadium of Light led to extensive discussions within the Nou Camp boardroom.

Depsite the clouds hanging over Catalonia - a win on Saturday night would breathe new life into Barca's season and keep them close to rivals Real Madrid.
