Henrik Larsson 'targeted' by Southend as Celtic legend is wanted as new manager

Celtic legend Henrik Larsson is wanted by English League One side Southend United as their new manager.

The strugglers are winless all season and without a boss since Kevin Bond left two weeks ago.

But they could turn their attention to Larsson who quit Helsingborgs last month over verbal abuse.

The Daily Mail say the Swede is considering the move as he looks to take his first managerial job outside of his homeland.

It was the second time Larsson had been in charge of Helsingborgs and he only took over in June after suffering relegation first time around.

That spell ended with physical attacks from fans on him and his son Jordan, who had been playing for the club.

The 47-year-old was also linked with a role at Celtic earlier this year as part of Neil Lennon's backroom staff but a move never materialised.

Southend currently sit second bottom of League One on one point, with just troubled Bolton behind them due to their points deduction.

Larsson also played for Manchester United and Barcelona during an illustrious career.
