Henrik Larsson 'set' for shock Barcelona return as Ronald Koeman eyes Celtic legend as assistant

Henrik Larsson could make a shock return to Barcelona as assistant to Ronald Koeman, according to a report.

The Celtic legend spent two seasons at the Nou Camp and was well liked by the Catalan club’s fans.

Larsson and Koeman played together at Feyenoord and both are represented by the same agency.

Koeman will be confirmed as Barcelona head coach soon and long term assistant Alfred Schreuder will join him.

But Dutch outlet AD say Larsson will join as a second assistant to the former Everton gaffer.

The 48-year-old has been out of work since leaving Helsingborgs last year.

He was close to taking over at Southend before it fell through shortly before he was due to sign a contract with the club.

The move collapsed after former Hoops team-mate Tommy Johnson accepted a job elsewhere when he was due to become Larsson's assistant at the English League Two club.

Larsson has regularly been linked with jobs at Celtic since he began his managerial career but he's yet to coach outside of his homeland.

He had two spells in charge of Helsingborgs as well as being boss at Landskrona and Falkenbergs while being assistant at Hogaborgs and Angelholms during his 10 year coaching career so far.
