Ex-teammate Simon Donnelly insists Celtic would "build a statue" of legendary striker Henrik Larsson if he succeeds as boss.
The Parkhead icon is one of the clubs greatest ever players having lifted four top flight trophies with the club and led the Hoops to the UEFA Cup Final.
However, the Swede, who is currently assistant to Ronald Koeman at Barcelona, has enjoyed a tough tenure in management with a 36 per cent win ratio during spells with Falkenberg and Helsinborg.
Despite this Donnelly believes the legendary striker is the exciting choice and should look to build on his legacy in Glasgow's east end by challenging Rangers next term.
He told The Celtic Huddle podcast: "I've gone on on record before Lenny got the job the last time, and last week, saying why would that not excite Celtic fans? Why would it not?
"I got thrown lack of experience. The guy has had a top career, he has worked under some of the best managers, he is at one of the biggest clubs in the world as a first-team coach.
"People are worrying that his legacy being ruined, but look at it on the flip side if he came here and he was a success they would be building a statue outside of Henrik, if they shouldn't already have one of Henrik for what he has achieved at the club.
"That would excite me as a fan. You have to win of Celtic. Of course there is a risk, but it would excite me."
When asked by host Mark Wilson if he would take the job while currently coaching in Catalonia, he said: "Well, that's the thing, but you talk about the season books, you would sell them twice over."
