Hengrove attack: Two men injured in 'machete' incident

At least two men have been injured after people were spotted in cars with weapons.

Several police cars and a van descended on Hengrove Leisure Park this afternoon (Tuesday, September 15).

A police cordon was in place for around three hours and a number of men were arrested at the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police has now launched an investigation.

A force spokesperson said: “At approximately 1.35pm today we were called to reports of a disorder involving a number of people with weapons in the car park of Hengrove Leisure Park.

“At least two men have sustained injuries which are believed to be minor.

“A number of men have been arrested and vehicles have been seized.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

Resident Sean Glade said he saw around six police cars outside South Bristol Community Hospital, adding: "Group of youths fighting with knifes outside Hengrove hospital and roads are closed.

"Group of about 5/6 lads with machetes."
