Helpware: A tech support report card

My house is filled with software-stuffed computers and enough tech gadgets to fill a toy store, a setup I clearly enjoy but which also requires me to almost constantly deal with a faulty device or two.

In turn, I spend way too much time on-hold with various tech support call centers and, as a result, have learned the quality of such support is all over the map.

The following is a summary of what I've experienced in recent months.
