Helphire shares crash as accidents fall

There was not a lot of good news for accident-claims handler Helphire Group this morning, as it announced it has cut 400 staff over the last year.

High petrol prices are keeping drivers off the road and out of trouble, cutting accidents. That has knocked Helphire's turnover and profits.

Helphire has posted a 37% fall in first-half profits. Adjusted revenues were down 17% too.

Helphire shares have lost more than half their value in the last six months.

They were off 18% this morning, down 3.1p to 14.7p.
