Helper held for theft from Rajasthan amid curfew

INDORE: Kanadia police have arrested a 26-year-old helper from his house in Udaipur (Rajasthan) amidst curfew and recovered 10 kg silver worth Rs 6 lakh stolen from a real estate businessman's house in Indore.

On June 24, the accused, 26-year-old Mohan Keer, a resident of Udaipur had fled to Rajasthan with stolen silver material and diamond jewellery in a bag on his two-wheeler from Indore. On June 28, the businessman Ashish Modi, lodged a complaint of theft since he returned home from a month-long Europe tour with his family, police said.

Kanadia police station in-charge Jagdish Prasad Jangre told TOI, “The accused had been working as a maid in the complainant's house for the last four years. The complainant Ashish along with his wife and son had gone to Europe on June 6. His daughter went there on June 15. Maid Mohan was alone at the house. Taking advantage of the situtaion, he made away with diamond and silver jewellery and utensils from the house.”

A special team was sent to Udaipur to track down and arrest Mohan. The team arrested the accused amidst curfew and internet service suspension. He was produced before a court, he added.tnn
