Daffodils are still out, bluebells have largely yet to arrive in even the most southerly parts of the country, and many birds that usually migrate to the UK in March or earlier are only just arriving now. Spring, which has in recent years arrived on average 11 days earlier than it was in 1976, was late this year.
Now the signs of spring are finally appearing, from insects buzzing about to swallows and housemartins landing in the UK, we'd like you to send your photographs and videos to GuardianWitness to celebrate the season's belated arrival.
GuardianWitness is the home of user-generated content on the Guardian. Contribute your video, pictures and stories, and browse news, reviews and creations submitted by others. Posts will be reviewed prior to publication on GuardianWitness, and the best pieces will feature on the Guardian site – they might even appear in the paper.
Noon update: here are a couple of lovely submissions this morning:
Wood Anemone in Eaton Woods, Nottinghamshire
Finally the woodland flowers seem to be rising from their slumbers. Primrose, dog violet and lesser celandine were seen and evidence that the bluebells might be out soon. However, by far the best display were the wood anemones that carpeted whole sections of the woodland floor. Andrew (www.verdantwildlife.co.uk)
