Liverpool beating Manchester and Wales to be named the UK's Favourite Place

You don't need to tell us that Liverpool is the best city in the UK, we already know. But we're hoping to make it official by landing the title of the UK's Favourite Place.

Our fantastic city is currently leading the way in a poll over on recommendation site 2Chill, knocking Newcastle off top spot and keeping other places like Manchester and Birmingham lower on the leaderboard.

But it could all change very quickly.

We're asking all of our readers to have their say so that Liverpool can remain top and be crowned the UK's Favourite Place.

So what makes our city worthy of this prestigious title?

As well as being birthplace to The Beatles and home to the School of Science, one resident is championing Liverpool to win because of the people.

A city is only as good as its people, right?

ECHO writer Elliot Ryder told 2Chill : "A sense of importance is key to Liverpool, its very way of life. Not in the way it thinks of itself, but in how everything matters here. Or rather Scousers know what matters to them - producing a compelling aura that can be felt on both the inside and outside of the city.

"Many will come to Liverpool, climb to the top of Everton Park, or snap a photo of its remarkable waterfront, but the picture that will always last the longest is one of the city’s heart, its compassion and desire to do things inclusively, but always in its own Liverpool way."

There are many who agree with Elliot, clearly evident with Liverpool's current position.

One person who agrees is Jenny Kopczak.

She told The Mirror: “Liverpool is so interesting and the people are really friendly.”

Vera York added: “My Favourite place as my late mum and her family were born there and my husband and his too. I feel more at home there than in my home town."

If you think Liverpool deserves to be crowned the best place in the UK, head over to 2Chill to cast your vote.

And if you need a bit of convincing, are new to the city or simply want to discover some hidden gems on your doorstep, you'll also find a range of recommendations from locals on the best places to eat and drink as well as things to do and places to stay.
