'Help him!' Edinburgh locals tell of 'double stabbing' horror on street as two men rushed to hospital

Horrified neighbours have described the aftermath of an alleged double stabbing in their street this afternoon.

Police and paramedics raced to the Pleasance in Edinburgh shortly after lunchtime.

Two men, aged 44 and 35, were rushed to hospital with "serious" injuries. A third man, aged 44, was later arrested in connection with the incident.

One neighbour said: "I heard a man shout help, help, help and a neighbour said he saw him covered in blood lying in the road.

"We heard two got stabbed."

Another added: "I was just about to take the dog out and there was two guys lying in the road.

"One had his shirt lifted up and you could see he'd been stabbed. He was covered in blood, it didn't look too good.

"The other shouted to ask if he was all right and he just lifted his hand up.

"I don't know if it happened in the street or the stair but there's been loads of problems round here."

Officers from Police Scotland assured the public there was no risk following the incident.

There were reports of traffic delays and bus diversions as police sealed off the street.

Items of clothing can also been strewn across the pavement as officers stand guard.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report around 1.40pm on Friday, 16 October of a disturbance on Pleasance in Edinburgh.

“Two men, aged 44 and 35, have been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. A third man, aged 44, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and the road is currently closed between West Richmond Street and New Arthur Place.”
