Hello, Lionel Richie! Charles meets pop icon and makes him global ambassador for the Prince’s Trust International

The Prince of Wales said hello to Lionel Richie as the star was made a global ambassador for the Prince’s Trust International.

Charles was meeting the American singer-songwriter in Barbados on the second leg of his royal tour of the Caribbean.

The star, 69, behind hits such as All Night Long and Hello, will help introduce the Prince’s Trust International to a global audience.

It is an expansion of The Prince’s Trust, which over 43 years has helped over 920,000 young people in the UK to transform their lives.

Charles and the singer were due to meet youngsters at the Coral Reef Club who have been helped by the charity, before joining a reception for guests and supporters.

Earlier the prince was reunited with his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, who flew ahead privately to the Caribbean.

She will carry out her own programme of engagements.
