Hell's Kitchen star Gordon Ramsay makes return to Scotland with new restaurant plan

Hell's Kitchen star and Scots born chef Gordon Ramsay will make a return to Scotland with his new restaurant plan.

It will be Gordon's first Scottish venture for 17 years following the closure of his last restaurant here.

The telly chef opened a restaurant in Glasgow called Amaryllis in 2001 which won a Michelin star, but it shut down in 2004 following the death of head chef David Dempsey in 2003.

Now Gordon plans a return to his Scots roots - basing the new restaurant in Edinburgh in the popular St Andrews Square.

His venue at the former Refinery site in 4-8 St Andrew Square will be his first Bread Street Kitchen outside of London where dishes on the menu include a burger made of beef short ribs, a mutton pie, as well as suckling pig.

There's also Gordon's famous Beef Wellington and lots of fish like sea bass as well as veggie options like aubergine for all-day Modern European dining.

The restaurant will take over a 3,728 sq ft site on the ground floor and a further 3,357 sq ft on the first floor.

Chief executive at Gordon Ramsay Restaurants Andy Wenlock said: "We have taken our time to look for the perfect location for our first Bread Street Kitchen & Bar outside of London and we are delighted with the site we have chosen in Edinburgh.

"Such a vibrant city with a cool food scene, it really feels like the perfect match. All the team are looking forward to bringing this popular all-day dining concept to our new neighbourhood guests later this year."

Gordon aims to open up to 50 new UK restaurants by 2025.
