Engineers will be "on stand-by" today to help keep power cuts to a "minimum" ahead of Storm Barra hitting.
The storm is expected to bring with it high winds and rain as it sweeps across the UK with yellow weather warnings issued for the South West, covering Bristol, Gloucester and Somerset.
Western Power Distribution have said that they have put a number of measures in place to help customers make it through the storm without incident.

They said they have engineering teams ready to help and extra staff in their control centres and that helicopters will be on stand by.
In a statement: "We're preparing for Storm Barra which is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain across the region tomorrow and Wednesday.
"Our teams are on hand and ready to respond to any impact on the electricity network and to keep power cuts to a minimum.
"We've put a range of measures in place to ensure that, whatever the weather, we can restore power supplies quickly and safely, if they are disrupted.
"This includes having additional operational and engineering staff on stand-by to respond to any network issues.
"We'll also have extra staff in our contact and control centres to manage the electricity network and to help customers with their enquiries.
"Arrangements are in place to open offices early, if needed, and for those working in support roles to operate 24/7 to aid our operational field staff.

The statement continued: "Helicopters will be available to fly and identify badly affected areas to hasten repairs from first light, if safe to do so.

Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset are among the areas covered by a yellow weather warning, which is in force from midnight on Wednesday (December 8) to 6pm on the same day.
