Helicopter search as suspect flees from scene of 'disturbance'

A miles long search spread from Ellesmere Port to Wirral after a "disturbance" last night.

Residents in Wirral reported seeing a police helicopter above the Seacombe area last night while patrol cars were recorded speeding through the Wallasey Tunnel.

The incident began with a "disturbance" at a property in Ellesmere Port before Cheshire Police alerted their colleagues in Merseyside shortly before 9pm.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police told the ECHO: "Shortly before 8.30pm on Monday police were called to reports of a disturbance at an address on Fleming Street, Ellesmere Port.

"Officers attended the scene and found that a number of people had left the scene in a vehicle.

"Local officers supported by the police helicopter conducted a search of the surrounding area.

"There are no reports of any injuries and a 19-year-old man is currently in custody and assisting officers with their enquiries.

"Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with any information which may aid the investigation should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 883783."
