Helicopter scrambled to Ayrshire coast after man falls and injures face

A helicopter was dispatched to the Ayrshire coast after a man sustained multiple injuries.

The walker was said to have hurt his face and suffered a suspected broken arm just before 1pm yesterday on Arran.

The casualty had fallen at Millstone Point on the island with Arran Mountain Rescue dispatched to help the man.

A doctor and paramedic treated the man and gave him pain relief before he was packaged in a stretcher to take him to hospital.

A spokesperson for Arran Mountain Rescue said on Facebook: "The team were called out at approximately 12.50pm this afternoon [Monday] to assist a male walker who had taken a fall at millstone point sustaining a face injury and a possible broken arm.

"He was treated by the team doctor and paramedic, given pain relief and packaged in our stretcher for onward transportation to hospital by Rescue 199."
