Helicopter rescue on East Lothian coastline after man falls on rocks and injures leg

A man had to be airlifted to hospital by helicopter after falling and injuring his leg on the coast in East Lothian.

The man fell on rocks near Eyemouth caravan park on Tuesday evening, prompting a wide-ranging response from emergency services.

Coastguard teams worked with paramedics to find and stabilise the injured man before helping him on to a stretcher.  Lifeboats from Eyemouth were also called out for the search.

A rescue helicopter was sent from Prestwick and the teams helped the aircrew to load the casualty on board.

Dunbar Coastguard said: "This was another fine example of inter-agency working. All services debriefed together and coastguards were stood down at 8.43pm.

"If you see someone in difficulty or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, beaches, cliffs, mud or water, call 999 immediately and ask for the coastguard. "
