Helicopter lands in Bristol sports field amid royal visit rumours

A helicopter landed in a Bristol sports field this afternoon (June 2) amid rumours a royal is in the area.

Photos taken after the aircraft landed at Lockleaze Sports Centre show a figure that appears to be Princess Anne.

Pictures of those who emerged from the helicopter show a woman clad in yellow with Princess Anne’s signature high bouffant hairstyle.

The Gloucestershire Awards in Adversity for 2021 are due to be held from 5pm to 9.30pm at the sports centre this evening.

One of the winners of the awards, Nels Kitchen, said they had been told there would be a “special VIP guest” in attendance.

In a post to their Facebook page, the catering company said they had been selected as a winner due to their work through the pandemic.

They wrote: “Specifically in relation to the food and deliveries we produced in relation to school meals. We would like to thank everyone involved in helping us to make this happen!”

Their post noted that they had not been told who the special guest would be, but they would be wearing their “finest attire”.

Resident Lucas Amorim filmed the helicopter as it was landing, which you can view above.
