Helicopter crashes into road on UK coast as emergency services rush to scene

A helicopter has crashed into a road on the north Kent coast this morning.

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash close to the A299 near Herne Bay.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service have described the scene as "under control" and that there was no fire or persons trapped in the chopper.

A spokesman said: "Thanks to everyone who has called this in, however the scene now under control and being dealt with by emergency services."

He added: "Thankfully there was no fire or persons trapped, so crews were able to make the scene safe while paramedics provided care to the pilot and passengers.

"The scene has now been passed to Kent Police to liaise with air accident investigators."

The crash is not close to any homes.

The ambulance service, a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and HM Coastguard are also at the scene.
