Helicopter overturns and crashes in eastern Nepal while landing, one injured—Watch

A helicopter on Wednesday carrying a dead body and five passengers crashed at around 11.51 am in eastern Nepal’s Khotang district, leaving one passenger injured, officials told news agency ANI.

The incident occurred when the Air Dynasty helicopter was attempting to land in a field.

“The helicopter crashed while landing in the farmland. It was carrying a dead body and had flown in from Kathmandu. No human casualties has been recorded. More details are due,” Rekha Kandel, chief district officer of Khotang district, told ANI over the phone.

According to the company, the helicopter bearing registration number 9N-ASQ was involved in the crash. One passenger sustained injuries, while the pilot and the remaining passengers were unharmed.

“Another helicopter with registration number 9N-ANA has also been dispatched for the rescue of the injured passenger,” the company said in a statement.

Preliminary findings suggest that high winds or dust during landing may have contributed to the crash. According to the company pilot, Sabin Thapa, was on board the helicopter.
