Helensburgh body find: Police confirm it is missing student Rufus Brickell

Police have confirmed a body found on the coast at Helensburgh on Friday is student Rufus Brickell who went missing earlier this month.

The Lennox Herald reported how the 22-year-old's family had been informed of the discovery.

And they have now identified the body as Rufus.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We can confirm that the body of the man found on the coast near Helensburgh on Friday, October 25 has now been identified as that of the missing man from Edinburgh, Rufus Brickell.

Sergeant Kieran Dougal at Edinburgh said: "We have been liaising with the relatives of Rufus and the Procurator Fiscal has been informed."

The Heriot-Watt student went missing on October 6 but had boarded a train to Old Kilpatrick. He had been seen crossing the Erskine Bridge but there had been no further trace of him after that.
