Helene weakens to tropical storm: NHC

(Reuters) - Helene has weakened to a tropical storm while moving northward over the northeastern Atlantic, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Thursday.

The tropical storm was located about 1,135 miles (1825 km) southwest of Lajes Air Base in the Azores with maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour (110 km/h), it added.
