Two Michelin-starred restaurant Hélène Darroze at the Connaught is to undergo a major refurbishment this summer – and it will be closed for two months to make it happen.
The acclaimed restaurant at upmarket Mayfair hotel The Connaught will close its doors after dinner service on July 14, and isn’t scheduled to reopen them until mid-September.
Celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year, the main dining room will be reimagined by Pierre Yovanovitch, the Parisian design house. New additions include the introduction of a Chef’s Table.
The plans also include a dedicated Armagnac Room, which will host pre and post dinner drinks for guests, as well as private events.
Alongside the interior updates, there are plans for a brand new menu from French-born Darroze. It's expected she will continue to cook dishes in her classic French culinary style, but there will be larger focus on using British producers and suppliers.
Hélène Darroze at the Connaught is one of three restaurants run by the chef, her portfolio also including Paris venues Restaurant Hélène Darroze (which also boasts two Michelin stars) and Jòia, which opened earlier this year.
The restaurant opened in 2009 and was awarded its first Michelin star just six months later. It has held its second star since 2011.
Before Darroze’s arrival in 2008, the restaurant at the Connaught was run by Angela Hartnett, operating on behalf of Gordon Ramsay Holdings.
