Helen Skelton 'within touching distance' of winning Strictly Come Dancing this year

Bookies have said that Helen Skelton is now in "touching distance" to win this year's Strictly Come Dancing, after she and Gorka wowed viewers and judges with their Cabaret performance last week. This weekend, the duo will take on the semi-final, with an Argentine Tango and a Waltz prepped.

The dancing pair are currently the bookies' second-favourite to win the show, narrowly behind Hamza and Jowita, who have odds of 8/13 to win. But, according to BetVictor, it is all to play for - as Helen and Gorka could top the charts if they wow with their semi-final performance this weekend.

The pair will be Argentine Tango-ing to to Here Comes The Rain Again by Eurythmics, and Waltzing their way around the dancefloor to Only One Road by Céline Dion. After last week's incredible performance, inspired by Cabaret, they will have to really wow the judges - who gave them an impressive 39 points last week.

This weekend, the semi-final will be on Sunday instead of Saturday, moved due to the World Cup coverage. The double-dance week will air on Sunday at 7.15 on BBC1.

And BetVictor spokesperson, Sam Boswell, said that the double-dance week will be pushing the dancers "further than ever before". Sam said: "It's fair to say our pairs have their work cut out for them this week! They'll be navigating two brand new styles on the dance floor this weekend, pushing them further than ever before.

"The winner market is still lead by Hamza at 8/13, Hamza and Jowita are dancing to Charleston to Pencil Full Of Lead by Paolo Nutini and Waltz to What The World Needs Now by Burt Bacharach.

"It’s looking like a two-horse race now as Helen and Gorka are very close behind Hamza, at 13/10. She was amazing in her performance last week; she shared the top spot with Will Mellor with 39 points each. This week, Helen and Gorka are performing the Argentine Tango to Here Comes The Rain Again by Eurythmics and Waltz to Only One Road by Céline Dion."

Will comes in as third favourite, with odds of 12/1. But Sam said that Molly and Fleur are bookies favourites to be eliminated, adding: "In the elimination market, Molly comes out on top at 10/11, she faced the dance-off last week but she was saved despite being joint-second in the leader board. Molly and Carlos are performing Paso Doble to Survivor by 2WEI ft Edda Hayes and American Smooth to Easy On Me by Adele.

"Fleur is 11/10 to be eliminated this weekend. Despite being in the bottom two a few times Fleur has bounced back, but will she make it into the final? Fleur and Vito are dancing the Charleston to Tu Vuo' Fa L'Americano by Fiorello and Paso Doble to The Time Is Now by Moloko."
