Helen Skelton shares picture of new baby as husband Richie Myler makes hilarious mistake during labour

Presenter Helen Skelton has praised the NHS in an Instagram post announcing she has given birth to her third child.

Helen, who lives in Leeds, shared a picture of her husband Richie Myler holding a car seat with the newborn baby taken earlier this week.

The 37-year-old presenter told fans on the social media platform she hadn't made any posts after giving birth until her family knew.

The presenter, best known for hosting BBC's Countryfile and The Instant Gardener, went onto dub NHS staff as "legends" and added she was still "failing to find the appropriate words" to thank them.

The Instagram post reads: “Can always count on dickie .... of all the things he’s said (there’s been a lot) “don’t worry I will be your lido...” while en route to hospital might be my fave. The man meant Doula. From the mouths of men. (pic from earlier this week - just haven’t posted partly because my mam likes the family what’s apps to be ahead of insta but mainly because I am still failing to find appropriate words of thanks for our @nhsengland @nhsmillion.... legends the blooming lot of them).”

Helen and Richie have been married since 2013 and have two sons together but they have not announced the gender of the newborn baby.

Hundreds of people have congratulated the couple on the arrival of the baby including Strictly Come Dancing's John Whaite, Ben Fogle and Amy Williams.
